The Laws of Life.

We are always looking for the Laws which govern what we experience in order to avoid suffering and encourage good fortune.

This is a pattern that can be observed in all cultures.

There should be a Law of Natural Justice by which good is rewarded and evil is punished.

There should be a Law of Karma by which Natural Justice is enforced.

But all too often this does not happen.

The Book of Job in the Bible tries to explain this phenomenon.

How many self-help books or psuedo-spiritual writings purport to give us the keys to these Laws of Life?

But none of them works.

Why is this?

This is because Natural Justice is a human expectation, a human construct.

Perhaps God does not function in this way at all.

In my experience God does not punish us.

He loves us like a Father.

God is Love.

So now we look for a Law of Love by which if we give love we will receive love in  return.

But this does not happen either.

Perhaps we should give up our attempts to manipulate the Divine into giving us what we want and trust in God's goodwill.

Then our fear will disappear and we will love as we were intended.

For love is its own reward.
