The reason that many ancient texts predicted a war at the end of the world was to do with astrology.
Astrology was the major instrument of prophecy in the ancient world.
But it must be remembered that the Vernal Equinox did not precess to 0° Aries until after 200 CE.
Therefore the first sign of the Zodiac in ancient times was Taurus.
This meant that the last sign of the Zodiac was Aries.
And because Aries (Mars) can indicate war this was interpreted to mean that war would come at the end.
It is interesting that the Mahabharata - an ancient Indian religious text - also ends with a war.
But Aries is no longer the last sign. So we cannot predict war any longer.
The Vernal Equinox is now approaching Aquarius.
It will be interesting to see what changes come about because of this shift in awareness.
